Founded in 1688, The Royal Leicestershire Regiment served with distinction around the world, and in 1825 it became known by its famous nickname "The Tigers".  Over the years they were awarded an incredible 73 Battle Honours dating from the Battle of Namur in 1695 to the campaign in Korea in 1952. One of the enduring legacies of the regiment is its battle honours - the laurel that surrounds their badge. This was awarded to the Regiment by King George III after the Battle of Princetown in 1777 and signifies the bravery of the soldiers who fought for their country.
